Meningspunktet x SASHA: Danish images stay in Danes' hands

Two Danish tech companies are joining forces to give users real control over the images they share. The result is the Nordic region's first social media platform with integrated image protection from upload to sharing.

Images shared online tend to take on a life of their own. They get screenshotted, cropped, forwarded, and end up in places the sender never imagined. It's a condition most people have accepted as part of digital life.

Meningspunktet and SASHA are now challenging that premise. The two Danish companies are entering a partnership that gives Meningspunktet's users access to SASHA's patented image technology. From the moment an image is uploaded to the platform, an invisible signature is woven into the image file itself. This signature survives editing, cropping, and screenshots, and it ties the image to the user who shared it.

"Meningspunktet is built on trust. Our users are real people sharing real images from their local community. Now they can do that knowing their images remain theirs," says Tue Oxenvad, co-founder of Meningspunktet.

The signing happens automatically upon upload and with the user's consent. If anyone subsequently tries to reshare a signed image without permission, the share is blocked. And if doubt arises about an image's origin, the signature can serve as documentation, a digital proof that follows the file wherever it ends up.

"I've seen image protection technology built for commercial, editorial, and cultural images: for press photos, for archives, for the kind of value that can be measured in money. What genuinely pleases me about this partnership is that the same protection now also applies to completely ordinary people's images. A photo from a birthday, a private image from a special moment, an everyday picture shared between neighbors deserves exactly the same protection as a professional work. Meningspunktet has built a platform that respects its users and gives them real control, not just a checked consent box. That is precisely what SASHA was created for," says Tom Tramborg, Global Director, Media & Publishing at SASHA.

The partnership is the first of its kind in the Nordics and positions Meningspunktet as the first social platform in the region with integrated image protection as a standard feature.

What users get:

  • An invisible signature, woven directly into the image upon upload
  • The signature survives screenshots, cropping, and editing
  • Automatic blocking of attempts at unauthorized resharing on the platform
  • Traceable origin: the image carries its own proof, wherever it ends up
