Danish Tech Pioneer Wins "World Cup of Digital Impact": Sasha Named Global Winner of Prestigious Award
The Danish technology company Sasha (Safe Share) has just been announced as one of the 40 global winners at the World Summit Awards (WSA) 2025. With 182 countries involved, the WSA recognizes Sasha for solving vital societal challenges through digital innovation, placing the company among the global elite in responsible tech.
From hundreds of projects across 63 countries, Sasha- Safe Share was selected as the winner in the Inclusion & Empowerment category. The award recognizes outstanding digital applications and innovations that contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By winning, Sasha joins the exclusive ranks of previous Danish successes such as Too Good To Go and Be My Eyes.
A Technological Spearhead for the UN Sustainable Development Goals
The WSA jury evaluated Sasha on its ability to create measurable social change. The company’s "Digital DNA" technology, which prevents image-based abuse and digital extortion, addresses two key SDGs:
- SDG 5 (Gender Equality): Image-based abuse disproportionately affects women and girls. Sasha’s technology serves as a concrete tool to prevent digital violence (5.2) and enhance the use of technology for empowerment (5.b).
- SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions): By creating transparency and ownership of digital content, Sasha promotes safe digital communities and ensures victims’ access to justice.
"Being selected as one of the 40 best solutions in the world is an enormous recognition. For us, it’s not just about building software, but about using technology as a tool for social sustainability. We want to make digital safety and consent a technical reality for everyone," says Thomas Eriksson, founder of Sasha.
From the EU Leadership to the Global Stage
The award comes after a year of significant political momentum. Thomas Eriksson was invited by the Danish Minister for Digital Affairs, Caroline Stage, as a keynote speaker at the EU Presidency meeting for all European Digitalization Ministers and the EU Commissioner Henna Virkkunen.
Sasha's international standing is further highlighted by their inclusion in The Europas Top 100 most innovative startups in Europe, in addition to appearances at Web Summit- one of the world’s largest tech conferences. Domestically, the company has also received several prestigious awards.
Official Celebration in Vienna
The formal award ceremony will take place at the WSA Global Congress in Vienna from May 19–23, 2026. Here, Sasha will represent Denmark in a global delegation of innovators who are all working to realize the UN SDGs by 2030.
"Sasha- Safe Share is a shining example of how Danish innovation can solve global human challenges. It is a well-deserved recognition of a team that dares to set new standards for safety in the digital public sphere," state the Danish nominators, Per Bach (Social Entrepreneurs in Denmark) and Michael Lundorff-Hansen (Innopixel).
