How to report private content misuse on X

Step-by-Step Guide

If someone is using an image that you own without your permission, you can report it to X for copyright violation. Follow these steps to submit a report.

STEP 01

Locate the Image

Find the image that is being used without your permission on the platform.
STEP 02

Go to the X’s reporting website

STEP 03

Choose issue

You will be presented a list of issues to choose from.

  • Private content is being posted (SELECT THIS)
  • An account is harassing me or someone else 
  • An account is directed hare against a protected category, such as race, religion, orientation, sex, disability, or another category
  • An account is threatening violence or physical harm 
  • some is showing intentions of self-harm or suicide
  • I’d like to report a child sexual exploitation issue
  • I’d like to report an underage user
  •  I’d like to report an ad on Twitter 
  • I’d like to report a Community
  • I’d like to report a paid partnership violation on X 
  • I’d like to report illegal and regulated behaviors
STEP 04

Your X user name

  • Your user name will be displayed here. If you aren't logged in already you will be asked to log in.
STEP 05

Your email address

  • The email you have connected to your account will be displayed here. This is also the email where X will contact you.
STEP 06

Signature

  • You need to electric sign the report by typing your full name.
STEP 07

Choose the category that best fits your case. If the content includes nudity or partial nudity, we have highlighted a suggested option for you.

  • Contact Information (such as personal email address or phone number)
  • Location Information (such as a home address)
  • Financial Information (such as credit card number)
  • Identification Information (such as a government-issued ID)
  • Medical Information (such as medical records, Biometric scan)
  • A sexual, nude, or intimate photo/video of me or someone without permission (SELECT THIS)
  • A photo/video of me that I do not want on the platform

  • Insert the user name on X of the person misusing your photo
STEP 09

Please share the content that might be violating our rules

  • Copy and paste the link to the post where your image is misused on X.
STEP 10

Please provide more details about what’s happening

  • Describe the situation. 

    We have created this statement that you can include in your description if you want: I have protected this content before sharing it using SASHA signature and watermarking technology in the SASHA app. This technology shows when and how the image was originally shared. I have discovered that it has been non-consensually shared."

Submit your report

  • Press submit.
STEP 13

Follow X’s instructions

After submitting your report, X’s team will review the content. If the reported content is found to be in violation, X may take appropriate action, such as removing the post or suspending the account responsible. You may receive follow-up emails regarding the status of your report. If further action is needed, you can respond to X’s updates or seek legal assistance to address the misuse of your private content.
