Step-by-Step Guide
If you find an image on Facebook that violates your rights, follow this step-by-step guide to report it.
STEP 01
Locate the Image
Go to Facebook and find the image you want to report. It may be in a post, a profile, or a page.
STEP 02
Click on "More or "Options"
- For a post: Click the three dots (...) in the top right corner
- For a profile picture or cover photo: Click on the image to open it, then select "Options" at the bottom.
- Look for "Report Photo", "Find Support", or "Report Post"

Select "Report Photo"
- Click "More" or "Options", then look for "Report Photo", "Find Support", or "Report Post".
STEP 04
Choose a Reason for Reporting
Facebook offers different reasons for reporting an image. We will suggest you choose unlawful.
- It’s me or someone I know (if the image is used without permission).
- It’s offensive or inappropriate (if it contains nudity, violence, harassment, hate speech, etc.).
- It’s spam or a scam (if it's being used for fraud).
- It’s unlawful (if the content violates the law). Select this.
STEP 05
Reporting as Unlawful Content
You will be presented with different options to select between after choosing unlawful content. We recommend you to select intellectual property, to proceed to claim your copyright of the image.
- Intellectual property (select this)
- Defamation
- Request erase personal data under GDPR
- Content is unlawful for another reason (e.g. hate speech, harassment).
STEP 06
Reporting a Copyright Violation
If you select Intellectual property, you will have to be the rightful owner of the image. You’ll need to fill out a form with the following details:

- You will then be presented to two options, trademark and Copyright - you should choose copyright.
- Describe your relationship to the rights owner:
- ‘I am the rights owner’ (select this).
- ‘I am reporting on behalf of my organization or client.’
- ‘I am reporting on behalf of someone else.’
Your contact information
- Provide personal details:
- Full name
- Postal address
- Email address.
- Where are you asserting rights? (select your home country from the list provided).
- Enter the name of the rights owner (enter the name of the person who protected the image with sasha).
- Provide a link (URL) to the original image. If no URL is available, write something like: "I originally shared this image on [platform] and can send the original file to Facebook if needed."
Content that you want to report
- Select the type of content you are reporting:
- Photo, video, or post (this is the most common option, and we would suggest selecting this).
- Ad.
- Other.
- Please provide links (URLs) leading directly to the specific content that you are reporting.
- This content copies my work (select this if an image that belongs to you was shared without your consent)
- I appear in this content
- This content uses my name
- Please provide any additional information that can help us understand your report. We have this statement that you can include if you want: "I have protected this content before sharing it using SASHA signature and watermarking technology in the SASHA app. This technology shows when and how the image was originally shared. I have discovered that it has been non-consensually shared."
- Declaration statement: Remember when submitting the notice you state that you have a good faith belief that the reported use described above, in the manner that you have complained of, is not authorised by the intellectual property rights owner, its agent or the law; that the information contained in this notice is accurate; and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act on behalf of the owner of the intellectual property rights at issue.
- Add an electronic signature.
- Press "Submit".
STEP 06
Follow Facebook's Instructions
Depending on your selected category, Facebook may request additional details. Facebook will review your report and notify you of their decision via notifications on the platform.
If your report is denied but you still believe the image violates your rights:
- Try contacting Facebook support directly.
- Report it again with more details.
